Our Story

Rewinding back to August of 2021, Austen had graduated from Texas A&M University and moved back home (Godley, TX) to focus on starting his career. At the same time, Kennedy was attending Tarleton State University (Stephenville, TX) working towards her Master's Degree. As Austen was navigating his post-college chapter, he had decided to look for a church he could get involved with and meet new people. That is when, in February of 2022, Austen and Kennedy met while attending the same young adults Bible Study group. Kennedy had been attending the group for two years prior to Austen joining. However, they did not meet right away. For the first two weeks Austen attended the group, Kennedy happened to be out-of-state. During this time, a friend from the group connected the two via social media as she immediately felt they would be a great match for each other. It wasn't until the third week where the two finally were able to officially meet. The group had decided to grab a bite to eat prior to that week's meeting, so Austen and Kennedy actually met at a Chipotle! Fun fact, this day also just happened to be Valentine's Day. With this in mind, Austen decided this was the perfect opportunity to ask Kennedy out and see where this thing could go. After the meeting, Austen pulled Kennedy aside with a bouquet of flowers and asked her out to an ice cream date. After that night, they both were confident this was going to be something special. The two quickly grew closer to one another and started their relationship just a few weeks later. Later that spring, Kennedy graduated with her Masters Degree from Tarleton State University. Her first job offer came that summer from a school district in San Angelo, Texas. As their relationship was rapidly growing, Austen and Kennedy decided it was a good time to move-in together. While the two only lived there a year, they learned so much about each other and their relationship. They really started to envision and plan their life together. In summer of 2023, Kennedy found a teaching job closer to home and the two moved to Joshua, TX. Six months later, on Christmas Eve, Austen asked Kennedy to marry him with both of their families there to celebrate. At this time, the two are thoroughly enjoying planning their big day and the rest of their lives together. Austen and Kennedy would like to say a big thank you to all of their friends, family, and dogs for guiding them along the way. They are beyond excited for everything life has in store for them.
